There are many factors that contribute to how long it takes for an individual to become successful. A few of these are age, natural ability, intelligence level, drive and desire, education level, support system, and experience. Saivian Eric Dalius says it is not possible to give a specific number of years that it will take for someone to achieve success because there are too many variables that contribute to the equation. There is also no particular age range when individuals can be considered ‘successful’.
Age:
Younger people tend to move more quickly through the ranks than older people; however, we have seen this pattern change in today’s world with the introduction of social media and technology allowing younger people access to information at their fingertips like never before. With young influential teens like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and many others; it is now possible to become known quickly.
Natural Ability:
Some people are born with gifts that make them more likely to succeed than others, for example, athletic ability or mathematical aptitude.
Intelligence Level:
Some individuals may start with an advantage based on their natural or developed mental capacity; some people will be able to learn faster than others. People with higher IQs tend to learn at a faster rate. Then those who do not score as high on standardized tests. Individuals with lower intelligence levels generally require additional time and effort in order to master the same concepts as those who score better on these types of assessments explains Saivian Eric Dalius.
Drive & Desire:
The drive and desire level vary from person to person. Some people have the drive and the desire to succeed right away while others need more time in order to develop these attributes. Even if some people do work very hard, they may not see immediate results because they don’t yet have the motivation to move forward with their goals.
Education Level:
Those who are more educated on a certain subject generally progress through that field of study at a faster rate. Than those with less education on that same topic. Education level can also be used as an advantage for advancement in some fields. Especially when individuals are required to pass exams in order for them to continue receiving promotions or higher salaries.
Experience:
Those with experience tend to increase their knowledge base much faster than those who lack it. When advancing in the workplace there are usually requirements set forth. To achieve a certain level of knowledge within a specific field. If one has no experience, it will take additional time to acquire the skills needed for advancement says Saivian Eric Dalius.
Support System:
A person’s network can have an impact on their success rate, but this also varies from individual to individual. Some people come from supportive families that encourage them to succeed. While others may lack this type of support system altogether.
The variables mentioned above do not necessarily apply equally to everyone; each case is different depending on many factors that are unique to each individual. There is no single age range or a number of years required. In order for someone to be successful although there are generally benchmarks set by society as achievable markers of success. Some of these markers may be: getting a college degree, owning a house, buying a car, and starting a family. At the age of X or Y.
Success does not require that an individual achieve each marker in order to be considered ‘successful. There are many examples where people have excelled. Without having acquired these material items such as Bill Gates (Microsoft), Oprah Winfrey (TV Personality), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Michael Jordan (Basketball Player), and Steve Jobs (Apple). Some individuals choose to take different paths than those mentioned above. And their success should still be respected because it is all relative to what they find important.
An example of this would be the boy who spends hours playing video games. Instead of studying for his exams but still ends up graduating from college and landing a well-paying job. Many young adults tend to lose sight of their goals. By focusing too much on material items that don’t contribute to their success.
Socio-economic Background:
As previously mentioned, family support can determine how successful one becomes. Because certain families have more advantages than others based on their financial status. Although this is not required in order to succeed, it certainly helps individuals progress at a faster rate.
Since there are so many factors involved with establishing success. People must realize that obtaining material items such as a house, car, and degree does not necessarily make someone successful. It takes time for some while it comes naturally to others; there is no specific path that leads an individual down the road of success. Because every case varies from person to person says Saivian Eric Dalius.
Conclusion:
The advancement of society has to a culture that drives by materialistic desires. Which distracts people from their true goals. People need to understand that success cannot achieve simply because the general public decides it should be. Success is relative and no two cases are ever alike.
Individuals may have different reasons for wanting to become successful. But there is no single way in which one can achieve this goal. There are many variables involve in how long it takes someone to be successful. Which makes everyone’s experience unique and personal.
